Agness Nyama is a Zambian-American actress, opera singer, and poet. She trained at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London on the BA Acting (CDT) Course.Born on May 11, 1992 in Lusaka, Zambia to Mary Chilandu (née Mbewe) and Patrick Pantaleo Nyama. Nyama is a dual citizen of Zambia and The United States of America. She currently resides in Belsize Park, London.She holds a 2015 ASCAP award for Best Actress in a Musical, a 2019 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera and a Sky Arts Southbank award for Best Opera for her work in Porgy and Bess with the English National Opera.
