Alexis was born in Burlington, Ontario, Canada to Phyllis DeRosa and, actor, Tim Koetting.She started acting at a young age in community theatre and went on to receive a BFA - Specialization in Theatre Performance from Concordia University in Montreal. Alexis has been working professionally since her graduation in 1995. She was a company member of the renowned Stratford Festival during the 1997 and 1998 seasons and has played stages throughout Canada, finally landing in St. John's, Newfoundland in 2015 where she has found a home with Perchance Theatre at Cupids, Newfoundland's only classical, outdoor theatre company.Alexis is also the author of the mystery novel 'Encore' - the first in the Bella James series - which was shortlisted for both the 2016 Arthur Ellis and Bony Blithe awards.An avid dog lover, Alexis also loves to travel and often chooses her country of exploration based on what she wants to eat.
