Angela Workman
Is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama with a degree in classical stage acting, and was accepted into their elite Masters Program early, and with no undergraduate degree.Angela Workman performed in New York theaters and on stages across the country until film consulting led in a different direction. She began working with film companies in New York, Los Angeles and London, eventually writing epic historical films for Dreamworks, Warner Bros, Fox Searchlight, The Weinstein Company, Centropolis, StudioCanal, and Focus Features, and for directors Roland Emmerich, Niki Caro, Wayne Wang, famed commercials director Leslie Dektor, and David Fincher, among others.As a screenwriter, Angela has adapted works by British historian Gavin Menzies ('1421: The Year China Discovered the World'), Lisa See, Diane Ackerman, Jo Baker, Edith Wharton, and biographer Linda Gordon. She has traveled the world writing films set in China, Britain, Poland, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Denmark, Canada, and the US.(September 2014): Angela is writing a romantic drama about New York City Ballet dancer Tanaquil Le Clercq, loved by both George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, for The Weinstein Company.(September 2015) In production on "The Zookeeper's Wife."(July 2016) Writing an epic dramatic adventure about the 19th century opium wars between China and Britain, for LD Entertainment.(March 2017) Angela appeared on panels in New York City, Washington DC, and Los Angeles, on the press tour for "The Zookeeper's Wife." She was a guest speaker alongside representatives of the International Rescue Committee, the Anne Frank Center in New York, the Jewish Heritage Foundation, the Holocaust Museum in Washington, the National Board of Review, and the New York Public Library, and spoke about the rescue of refugees during the Holocaust and other crises around the world.
