Preceding "The Lady from Shanghai," Carl Frank played dozens of roles throughout the Golden Age of Radio, from announcer for "The March of Time" and "The Shadow" to a player with the Mercury Theatre of the Air - whose 1938 broadcast of "The War of the Worlds" panicked the nation and changed the rules of broadcasting.
