David Gleeson
An accomplished theater writer in his native Limerick, Ireland, David Gleeson's love of cinema comes from his grandfather who opened up his first cinema in rural Ireland in the 1940s. David's family are still in the cinema business.Having worked in the North Sea oil industry to finance his first short films, David went to New York City where he met Nathalie Lichtenthaeler who would become his producer."Cowboys & Angels" (2003) was released in cinemas across Ireland by Buena Vista Int. To date, the film has won 8 international film awards including Best Screenplay at Newport Beach (US) and 2 Gold Medal awards at Giffoni (Italy).David's next film, "The Front Line" (2006). Winner of Best Film at the Salerno Film Festival (Italy) and the Bernhard Wicki Prize at Emden (Germany), "The Front Line" is a serious departure from the light hearted nature of "Cowboys".In recent years, David's focus has been on screenwriting. He remains eager to get behind a camera again.
