Personally, it took me a long time to say that I was a screenwriter. It's a very difficult thing to say, because so many people try it and fail; it's tough to convince yourself. David J. Stieve
Originally from West Bend, Wisconsin, David earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, graduating with honors from the school's Creative Writing program. After serving as Deputy Editor of The Madison Review, UW's nationally renowned literary journal, David redirected his classical narrative storytelling training to the new canvas of screen-writing, and moved to Los Angeles in 1999 to further pursue the craft. He has since written a number of original screenplays, including the critically acclaimed, cult favorite horror-satire Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006), directed by Scott Glosserman.David is also one of three subjects in the Mercury Productions documentary Dreams on Spec (2007) , by filmmaker Daniel Snyder, which showcases the trials and tribulations of pursuing a screen-writing career in Hollywood.Upcoming projects include a horror short film entitled Wait For It, as well as B4TM, the long-awaited sequel to Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006).
