Diane was born on December 29th, 1950 to Leottice (Lee) Weldy Jr. and Lucy Elizabeth (Betty) Ward Weldy, in Mobile, Alabama. Both parents are still living. She had one sibling, Michael Weldy, who died in his 50's after a violent attack by a man who was on drugs.Diane attended Tift Baptist Women's College in Georgia and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She married James Alan Tavegia in 1970 and they have four children and six grandchildren.Diane is an animal lover and an advocate for spay and neuter to prevent euthanasia. She also encourages people to adopt and not shop for pets. She has a terrier mix named Daisy Mae and a Border Collie named Emmie Jo. Both were adopted from the Carroll County Georgia Animal Shelter.Diane and Jim have lived in Villa Rica, Georgia for over 20 years and consider it their forever home.
