I like music because... it makes me feel the most free I've ever felt in my entire life and gives me the freedom to do anything without much consequence

We were doing the Big Day Out festival. I went "Hello, Adelaide!" Matt [Bellamy] turned round going, "We're in fucking Perth you dick." He was quite pissed off with me for the whole day.

I associate it with 10-minute guitar solos, but I guess we kind of come into the category. A lot of bands are quite ambitious with their music, mixing lots of different styles - and when I see that I think it's great. I've noticed that kind of thing becoming a bit more mainstream. (On progressive rock)
