Edgar was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Edgar Sr.(deceased) and Thomasina Nicholson. he has one sister, Mearline, and one brother, Gregory(deceased). Early on, Edgar was interested in films, but from behind the camera, seeing how the whole process works and watching "The making of...." and "Behind the scenes" programs. His first time in front of the camera came as an extra in the John Travolta film:"Primary Colors"(1998). He has also done background on shows such as "OZ","Law and Order","Law and Order:SVU" and "Nurse Jackie".He has two children, Vanetta and Dwayne and three grandchildren, Jamel,Ramel and Nyzell.
