Eric Reid attended Dutchtown High School in Geismar, Louisiana, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Reid was a 1st-round (18th overall) draft choice by San Francisco in 2013. He was the recipient of the Thomas Herrion Memorial Award in 2013, given by the 49ers coaches to the rookie or first-year player who has taken advantage of every opportunity and turned it into a positive situation. In 2013 he was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team and made the Pro Bowl the same year.
