Spent her later years portraying Susan Lucci's much-beleaguered mother on the long-running daytime soap opera, All My Children. Susan Lucci loved her in real life and consequently portrayed the grief-stricken daughter quite convincingly when Frances Heflin's character died (upon the actual death of Ms. Heflin). Although she bore a slight resemblance to her more-famous brother Van, one would not realize this resemblance without knowing her last name.
