As of 2014, Gabriel Cowan has written, produced and or directed 19 feature films.Of the 5 narrative features sold at South By Southwest 2013, 3 of them were produced by Cowan including the Audience Award Winner Cheap Thrills.In 2013, Cowan's company, New Artists Alliance, released several films including Extracted, which he co-wrote and produced, Bad Milo! and Static which he wrote and produced.In 2010 he formed New Artists Alliance, a company that supports emerging filmmakers and social action. As of 2014 they have produced 10 features with first time filmmakers.In 2008, he graduated with a Masters in film directing from the prestigious California Institute of the Arts. While there, Cowan wrote and directed over two dozen short films, co-wrote, co-directed, and produced Breathing Room, a psychological thriller, which was sold worldwide, produced Family of Four, a drama which follows four family members dealing with their desires and limitations, and directed a documentary on forgiveness and reparations in post genocide Rwanda entitled "Flower in the Gun Barrel".As a musician, Gabriel Cowan has toured the world, playing his music for hundreds of thousands of people, at hundreds of venues, in dozens of countries. He has received two platinum records, and has recorded over ten internationally released albums.
