Jim Main was born James Robert Main on 6th October 1959 in Redruth, Cornwall, England. He was brought up and educated in Falmouth, Cornwall where he studied Drama amongst other subjects. On leaving full time education he trained as a Marine Engineer serving as an engineering officer at sea before becoming a Commercial Oilfield Diver in 1981. A change of career in 1988 saw him join the Devon and Cornwall Police force and commence a 27 year career as a Police officer with most of his service working as a detective Constable and Sergeant within serious crime and homicide investigation roles and eventually as a Detective Inspector within the intelligence community before retiring in 2014. His early desire to act resurfaced when in 2012 he started working as a support artist in major film productions and an actor in smaller independent professional productions for Television and cinema. Jim is a member of BECTU and is registered with the U.K. Film and TV registration team. He works with various UK agencies. Jim is a character actor with a wide range of emotional content and voice range supported by a rugged look etched by years of experience in hostile physical, geographical and social environments.
