I prefer not to have Actors read lines when they meet me about a part. I'd rather have a conversation. I don't think I'm going to get anywhere knowing that a professional can memorize lines. I want to know what approach internally and emotionally this person is going to take to the role. I don't believe there is such a thing as bad acting, there's good acting and bad directing (of the actor). That begins in the casting process. For me it's less important that an actor comes in memorializing a scene than they can live a part.
