Mac Tavares is an American actor who was born in Puerto Alegre, Brazil. He is the youngest of three children born to Roberto O. Tavares, a Spanish soap opera actor and Ieda Tavares. When he was eight years old he moved with his family to the United States and settled in New Jersey.Tavares was a late comer to acting having first had a career in law enforcement for 25 years. In 2011 he was notice by a talent agency that his daughter was working with and cast in two commercials for Xfinity/Comcast speaking in English and Spanish. Since then he has continued his career working as an actor and technical advisor on T.V. shows such as Quantico, Shades of Blue, Person of Interest, Golden Boy, Mysteries of Laura , Mr. Robot and Elementary. He is best known for his supporting role of Det. Gaskell in the 2016 thriller movie The Girl on the Train. He has training in stunt fighting and is a certified precision driver.
