Marina Palmier
Marina Palmier is an established American actress, and an award-winning writer/director. She has appeared on stage and screen in hundreds of projects, working with such acclaimed directors as Lasse Hallstrom, Shawn Levy, and Blake Edwards. As a protective mother, she shielded her children from the murderer Tim Daly in the controversial NBC film Witness to the Execution, dictated foreign policy to John Spencer on The West Wing and prosecuted Lea Thompson in the NBC film The Unspoken Truth, to name a few. Her bilingual ability allows her to move between Anglo and Latina roles including simultaneously playing an upscale Anglo mayor in the ABC series Threat Matrix, and a re-occurring upscale Latina mayor on the Disney channel series In A Heartbeat. Marina has been fortunate to work on several high profile series such as Harry's Law, Desperate Housewives, CSI Miami, Beverly Hills 90210, West Wing, and ER, among others. Variety praised her work in the CBS film The Absolute Truth, starring Bruce Greenwood and Jane Seymour, stating "Marina Gonzalez Palmier turns in a solid performance as a strong woman haunted by her past."Marina was chosen to participate in the prestigious American Film Institute Directing Workshop for Women. Her script, White Like the Moon, about prejudices and bigotry between light and dark-skinned individuals in the Latin community, was selected out of thousands of submissions. Marina's directorial debut of, White Like the Moon, received dozens of awards, including Best Short Film at the New York Latino Festival, The Los Angeles Imagine Foundation, The Chicago International Children's Film Festival, the Eastman Kodak Prize, and broadcast on HBO.On stage, she has been seen in scores of new and classical works in theaters throughout Los Angeles. Favorite performances include You Can Call Me Eve at Write Act Theater, Bianca in Othello directed by Ted Lange at The Inner City Cultural Center, Epic Proportions at Avery Schreiber Theater, and Madre at Theater Theater. Marina's one-act plays have been produced in Los Angeles at Towne Street Theater (African American Ensemble), Write Act Rep, Lonny Chapman's Group Rep, Neo Ensemble, and Fierce Backbone. Her one-act comedy, Maria Conchita Alfonso Alfonso Alfonso, which she wrote and starred in, about a sexy Latina star grasping to hold onto her youth by seducing a young aspiring Latino actor, played to sold houses at The Hollywood Fringe Festival.
