[2012] I don't think it [All Saints' 2006 reunion] was done for the right reasons... I know that I did it for the money. We got signed before we had even made music again, it wasn't like we felt we had something to give back to the world... we were given an opportunity and took it, without really thinking about it too hard. I never felt comfortable with the success the band had and it was not necessarily the plan at the beginning; there was a lot of compromise involved.

[sarcastically responding to Cheryl Tweedy's claim All Saints' new single Rock Steady sounded like one of Girls Aloud's] That is so true because 'Jump for my love' is so where I wanna be. [...] We could only aspire and dream to be like them. Hopefully one day we will achieve that. For now we will just have to make do with copying them.

[It's funny, she muses, resolutely pushing the Silk Cuts away again (Blatt nurtures her vices, which also include physical sloth, junk food and, for a while, cocaine), she and Nicole had been best friends since the day they met at the Sylvia Young stage school.] We shared the same sense of humour, and the same kind of... we didn't fit into the usual stage-school cliches. I'm still fascinated by celebrity culture. I read all the mags and papers, and the smuttier the better. When 3am [the Mirror, erm, nightlife column] does a story on you, it's not nice, but I love it when it's not me. I can be objective because I'm not part of it.

I was jealous of Stuart [Zender, her fiance and former Jamiroquai bassist] working with other people and said, 'Work with me!' I just wanted to do the music I wanted to do. I hate going out live and love the studio. I try and ask questions if I can be arsed, and I'm not too stoned. But I think he gets frustrated by my lack of knowing or even wanting to know.

[The blonde Appletons were the Saints' glamourpusses, while she was] the one with dark circles under my eyes who looked Arabic.

Oh, I hate reading interviews with people where they give all the 'right' answers because they don't want to offend anybody. You give an interview for one reason only, to talk about yourself. If not, then don't do an interview?

[2001] Weed is part of my life. It's just always been with me. When I was on the dole that's where my money went.
