Pacharo Mzembe
Pacharo Mzembe is an African-born Australian actor. Developing an interest for acting in his final years of high school, Pacharo was awarded a scholarship to attend the Australian Acting Academy which led to him auditioning for and gaining entry into the National Institute Of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) at the age of seventeen. Although starting out in theatre, Pacharo has appeared in numerous local & international motion television and movie roles including Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova & channel nine's Underbelly: Razor.In 2011 Pacharo suspended his acting career to make a stand for youth and education through the Run of Awareness. A 4189km trans Australian run completed with the physical & financial support of his closest friends and family. He resumed his acting career in 2013 wherein he portrayed the legendary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the award winning "The Mountaintop" at the Queensland Theatre.He is a proud recipient of the 2014 African Australian Arts Excellence Award & a Helpmann Award nominee for 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' for his work in the hard hitting 'Prize Fighter' production.Pacharo originates from Malawi, a small country located in the south east of Africa but was born in Zimbabwe. He migrated to Australia in 1993 alongside his older brother and mother after his father was granted political refuge by the Australian government.
