(On Star Wars (1977)) I remember Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher had to swing across this huge drop in the movie -- we didn't use stunt men. During one of the rehearsals, the buckle holding them up gave way and they almost fell. When we got them down, they both refused to do the jump completely -- scared witless. So, in the end, I convinced them that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, and they went ahead and performed the stunt. Of course, I had lied completely -- the buckle was not safe at all, but we had such limited time. I'd be surprised if they knew that today.

Peter Diamond
Peter Diamond was one of the finest British stuntmen, with a career spanning over fifty years worth of television and film work. He originally trained as an actor at RADA and went on to become a stuntman, fight arranger and director. He is best known internationally for his work on the Star Wars films, as well as his contributions to Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Superman II (1980), and Highlander (1992) and Highlander (1986). Peter also toured the UK giving demonstrations of his craft at theatres and events for schools.
