Whenever I get a gut feeling about someone or something not being right, it's usually right on point, the problem is sometimes I ignore that feeling and rationalize it, until something happens that proves I should of trusted my first though all along... I'm getting better at it though.

[remembering Aaliyah on the 10th anniversary of her death] Rest in peace Aaliyah... She will always be loved and never forgotten. She touched me for sure and so many others. I will never forget learning "4 Page Letter" and performing it in the mirror after school everyday (5th grade)... I decided I was a singer shortly after. Love her forever.

Just because a situation is comfortable or it's all you know, doesn't mean it's where you need to be... Especially if your gut tells something isn't right or you shouldn't be there for whatever reason.

It's okay to have party songs, but I don't want to make cookie-cutter music. I'm looking forward to everyone hearing what I can do.

I used to lock myself in my closet and listen to my favorite songs and try to imitate the singer. No matter who it was, Justin Timberlake, Brandy Norwood, or Alicia Keys, I could mimic exactly how they sounded. That's how I got comfortable with my voice.

Sabi Portlock
Sabi was born and raised in Inglewood, California. She has loved the arts since the age of 4, and has been involved in one art form or another from dance, to theatre, to singing her whole life. Sabi comes from a biracial background, with an El Salvadorian mother and African American father, so she speaks Spanish and English. Is a communications major at California State University Long Beach. Landed three commercials via ABC Family, Universal Studios, and Pepsi in 2007. Her film debut struck was in an independent film executive produced by actor Shia LaBeouf, which premiered at the 2008 LA Film Festivals. She was also featured on the web series from the producers of Moesha and the Proud Family entitled "The Lyfe of Kevyn." In the summer of 2009, Sabi joined the Los Angeles based urban/pop group The Bangz, featuring another performer named Ella Ann, that got signed to the indie recording label VNR, Asylum Records and Warner Bros. Records. Not much after, Ella was seriously injured and unable to continue, leaving Sabi to go on alone. However, executives at Warner Bros. loved Sabi's talent and energy and wanted to continue the label's relationship with her as a solo artist. She has been attracting buzz from her collaborations on Britney Spears' song "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" from her #1 album Femme Fatale, Cobra Starship's song "You Make Me Feel..." from their latest album, Night Shades, and the New Boyz' song "Tough Kids" from the album Too Cool to Care. Meanwhile, she's in the studio with Benny Blanco, Lukasz Gottwald and The Cataracs recording her own album.
