Tom Fairfoot
Tom was born in Sussex in England. He trained at London university, majoring in french and drama, spent a year at the Sorbonne University doing improvisation/acting class with Peter Brook's assistant Sylvain Corthay and finally at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.Best Known in the UK as Eddie in the award winning musical 'Blood Brothers' on Tour and in the West End London. Playing opposite David Cassidy and Helen Reddy, also Bernie Nolan, Clodagh Rodgers, and Stefan Dennis to name a few. He also played the title roles in the Shakespeare productions Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew and Hamlet, amongst numerous other theatre productions over a decade in repertory theatre and on tour throughout the UK. In South Africa he played Jake in Pieter Toriens's acclaimed two hander comedy production "Stones in his Pockets"Films he has acted in include Beat the Drum, Cape of Good Hope, Stander, Amelia, Doomsday, Mandela's Gun, Blood and Oil, Winnie Mandela, He also acted in "A Soldier's Story", which he wrote for BBC Wales. Most recently he played lieutenant Smalls in the feature film 'Revolt' alongside Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy, Twilight Saga) directed by Joe Miale. Also with Ben Schnetzer (Warcraft) in "The journey is the destination" directed by Bronwyn Hughes, and in NetFlix TV series "The Crown" and as Major Hare in the BBC army series 'Our Girl 2' directed by Jan Matthys, and will also appear in the forthcoming belgium TV series "Salamander 2" directed by Frank Van Mechelen. He has played in over a dozen International movies working alongside Hilary Swank, Naomie Harris, Rhona Mitra and various other international stars.He has appeared in numerous British productions including Casualty, Eastenders, Cave Girl, Zero Hour (drama documentary), The Devil's Whore, Rough and USA series Scout's Safari.Tom has acted in numerous South African television series, including Generations, Isidingo, Innocent Times, Snitch, Zero Tolerance, Backstage, 7de Laan, Binnelanders, Roer Jou Voete, Sober Companion and played the leading role of Detective Gavin Archer in ETV's "Golddiggers". He also starred as Crowbar, an uncompromising operator with a chip on his shoulder, in the TV movie, The Message. The movie revolves around an ultra-elite team of Special Forces Operators who return from a high risk mission in the Congo, only to find an even greater threat waiting for them back at home.Tom was a resident writer on the ETV youth soap Backstage and also wrote for the absurdist comedy series On the Couch, which aired on SABC3 from 2008-2012. He was also part of Joe Parker's comedy improvisation team and during that time did various corporates and comedy improvisation shows with some of South Africa's current leading Comedians. Fun fact. In the 1990s he worked on the original popular British TV comedy show, Noel Edmonds House Party, as part the comedy improv team and then years later briefly with South Africa's version called laugh Out Loud in 2011.He has done hundreds of major voice campaigns involving top commercial brands and international sports, including the World Cup (2010 and 2014), Olympics and Formula 1. In addition, Tom has narrated numerous documentaries and TV channels as the main announcer and was the voice of the National Geographic Channel for three years. He has also voiced two international comedy children's animations playing various characters. He has voiced several South African and International campaigns which have won various awards including two Golds and one Silver at Cannes, as well as local South African advertising awards. He has been consistently one of the most in demand voices in South Africa for over 15 years in the corporate and commercial world. .
