Charles Haywire Patoshik is an inmate at Fox River State Penitentiary who has schizoaffective disorder with bipolar tendencies. He snapped and killed both his parents with a shotgun, but has no memory of the crime.Prior to his breakdown he was an accomplished mathematician with a doctorate from Harvard.He is Michael Scofield's cell mate for a time and presents an impediment to Michael's plan because he does not sleep and his keen mind can see the hidden messages in Michael's tattoos. This skill later proves essential to Michael's plans. He asks to join the escape.
