cole is the husband of the victim. he hires byrd to find Dwayne and put him back into police custody. it is all a clever ruse because he in fact killed his wife, he used the robbery as the perfect excuse to kill his wife and pin it on Dwayne. Dwayne's partner saw cole do this though and then tried to blackmail him to keep silent. cole then met with Dwayne's partner and killed him as well.
