A former Miss America, Corky Sherwood was initially a thorn in Murphy's side, but over time the two became close friends. When she started out on FYI she mainly did fluff pieces, but as the years went on, she learned a thing or two from Murphy and began to produce work of quality. Married first to novelist-turned screenwriter, Will Forrest, Corky married for the second time to the former executive producer of FYI, Miles Silverburg.
