The owner and bartender of the Emerald City Bar, which is across the street from Seattle Grace, Joe has come to know the doctors from the hospital quite well. He's a very nice guy, friendly to his customers, and is one of the main reasons the doctors all choose to go there so often. He was burned and raised in Seattle and has owned the bar for 15 years. As the years go by, the doctors learn more about Joe and his personal life, which includes a twist fans might not have seen coming, and he even finds himself on the operating table.
