Katie Bell is the friend and long time quidditch teammate of Harry Potter. Though she was a student in passing for the first 5 installments of the series, Katie plays a much larger role in the sixth chapter. In Half Blood Prince, she falls victim to Draco Malfoy's attempt on Albus Dumbledore's life, when she is Imperiused by the female bartender of the Three Broom Sticks, who is in turn under the Imperius curse placed by Draco Malfoy. She receives a cursed necklace, the one from Nocturne Alley that Hermione pointed out. Katie comes into slight contact with the necklace and is stumbled upon by Harry, Ron, and Hermione in mid-agony. Hagrid then rushes her to the hospital wing, and Katie barely survives. It is later said that had she placed her whole hand on the cursed necklace, she would have been killed. Katie comes back later in the year to help the Gryffindor Quidditch team win the Quidditch Cup. Katie is competitive and cheery, and is well liked amongst her fellow Gryffindors.Georgina Leonidas will play Katie in 'Half Blood Prince', but in the first two films, she was played by Emily Dale. Katie appears in the first six books.
