There is only one slayer at a time but when Buffy dies momentarily another is 'activated.' Kendra is that slayer and she's from Jamaica. After seeing Buffy kiss Angel in vampire form she believes Buffy may be a vampire as well and fights her. In the end the girls work together to save Angel's life. In a later episode Kendra is killed by Drusilla.
