Quentin McCawley is human. He was born at the beginning of the Pale Wars while his father Rafe was away fighting. Quentin benefits from his family's station in Defiance as the owners of a large mine, but he struggles with his father's favoritism for his old brother, Luke. Quentin works in the mines and has a cooler head than his brother and sometimes acts as peacemaker for his family.
