Ray Buxley is the custodian at Burtonsville High, the high school from which Dr. Temperance Brennan ( Bones ) graduated in 1994. Buxley was a mentor of sorts to Temperance when she was in high school, bringing her dead animals to disect (one of her several passions as a high school student that led her classmates to shun and ridicule her). He was also the suspect in a grisly murder in 1994, a murder that is replicated ten days before the class reunion.Buxley's character, brilliantly played by Robert Englund, has obvious echoes of the Freddy Krueger character from A Nightmare on Elm Street : a workroom full of knives, axes and other cutting utensils, a tendency to appear and disappear suddenly, long fingers that wrap around a door edge, and a general creepiness of persona. Of course, Brennan loves him dearly and is certain he was not involved in either the original murder or the more recent one.
