People are surprised to hear that grief can inspire comedy, but those people don't know comedy. When I first wrote [Moving Along], I wasn't ready to speak directly of my brother. I can face things more unflinchingly now.

I think damage is actually something to be valued. The many-splendoured things that our personalities are, are attributable to the hard times we've had and the unfortunate situations we've encountered, and it's a good thing.
