Born in Aberdeen Scotland. Both parents were in the British Army. Went to the military school Gordons. Where he learned the bagpipes and was a very active cadet. Trained at The Drama Centre London. As well as his screen work he is also a very experienced classical stage actor and a stand up comedian.
