Dean Bakopoulos is a first-generation American novelist and screenwriter. His novels include Please Don't Come Back from the Moon (2005), My American Unhappiness (2011), and Summerlong (2015). He is writer-in-residence at Grinnell College in Iowa and teaches an annual TV writing seminar for MFA students at the University of Iowa. The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction (2009) and NEA fellowships in fiction (2006) and creative nonfiction (2016), Bakopoulos divides his time between Los Angeles and rural Iowa.
