Ex-Conover model Frances Ramsden was romantically linked with film maker Preston Sturges, who, in spite of her lack of acting experience, cast her as co-star in Harold Lloyd's comeback comedy Oh quel mercredi! (1947). The film was poorly received by critics and audiences alike. Lloyd's age was clearly becoming a problem, writing and direction were uneven and, according to The New York Times (January 25,1951) the film "runs an erratic course during which moments of wonderfully funny nonsense are overshadowed by stretches of painfully dull writing and imagery". Harold Lloyd did not come out of retirement again and poor Frances Ramsden left the screen forever to concentrate on her hobbies of golf and reading. She was also reputedly a very good pianist.
