London born Keith Levene is a composer, artist, multi-instrumentalist and founder member of the Clash and Public Image, Ltd. He is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking work with the guitar and synthesizer. Levene is a much respected and iconic figure in the British punk/post punk scenes.Levene's career began at age 18 a guitarist and founder member of the Clash. That year he persuaded front man Joe Strummer to leave the 101ers and join him in the Clash.In 2015 Levene announced his latest multi-faceted project "London 1976" which marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of British punk (1976-2016). The London 1976 Project encompasses Levene's original music, artwork, books, a documentary film, and a learning center called "The London 1976 Institute" for up-and-coming musicians and artists who embrace the spirit and ethos of British punk.
