When we were doing Pulp Fiction (1994) or Jackie Brown (1997), I just don't remember the level of scrutiny that exists today about the opening weekend performance. Back then you could build a release for a film that was kind of word-of-mouth. You could do a limited unveil and build from there. Now it seems you have a couple weekends and you're done...
