Roberto Benabib was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He attended NYU film school and began his career as Jonathan Demme's assistant. He has produced and written numerous television series including Ally McBeal (1997) Weeds (2005) and The Brink (2015) as well as writing and directing the Miramax film Little City (1997). He also adapted the libretto for Baz Luhrmann's Broadway production of "La Boheme."
