[on Paula Patton] She's the best girl in the world, a great mother, and still a good friend. I want to wish her well and let her know that she's a great person and she deserves to have a good life... She was my rock... Everything we have right now, we built together.

[on his separation from Paula Patton] I try to keep most of that private, but, I haven't seen her for four months. If you've been together that long, you kinda became adults together instead of being adults and then meeting. But maybe a year or two off, we'll become our own people without each other and then it will be meant to be.

I knew exactly what I had," Thicke said. "It's not that simple. After 20 years... it didn't work for 20 years because it wasn't right-it was right. Sometimes people grow apart. You didn't build love in a day and you don't lose it in a day." [On his separation from Paula Patton]: [Cheating] is not why we're apart. We're apart because we just couldn't be together anymore for a while. There's a hundred different reasons, there isn't just one. There's a long list... I changed, and I got a little too selfish, a little too greedy, and little too full of myself.

[on his album 2014 "Paula," which was written about Paula Patton after their separation] The album is exactly what happens when you lose the love of your life and you're trying to figure it out in your head. How am I going to move on and get through it all? We just weren't happy together anymore and I still had so much I wanted to apologize for, and things I wanted to take responsibility for, so that's pretty much what the album's about.

[on what he likes to do with his wife] I like to take her out to a fancy, six-course meal that lasts three hours and stare into her eyes. Of course it's a little schmaltzy. There's nothing women love more than an effort.

Art is supposed to make us talk about what's going on in the world and where we are as men and women, and all those kinds of things. I don't mind having that conversation.

[on 'Blurred Lines'] We tried to do everything that was taboo. Bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women. Because all three of us are happily married with children, we were like 'We're the perfect guys to make fun of this'.

I don't like labels, but I do have blue eyes and I'm soulful, so what am I going to do?

I think people that compare us aren't listening closely, they're just watching. I can't dance like him, that's for sure.

Some people go to college. For me I studied music my whole life. That was my college.

I'm always most comfortable when I'm in here singing or here playing or when the band's playing...

I really try to wake up with my music the same as I do with my life, and that is with no expectations. I just feel what I feel that day and follow it.

While other kids played with cars and toys, I listened to music all day. I wanted to sing it and learn it.
