[on directing 'This is Where I Leave You'] On every other movie, I have to focus on my actors plus visual effects, plus action sequences, plus robots or dinosaurs or car chases. On this one, there was only the writing and the characters and the way I helped my actors service those two things.

[on directing "Date Night"] We wanted the awkwardness of Steve and Tina having to make up an erotic dance on the spot. I was standing behind the camera screaming at them "Sex robots!..Intercourse caterpillar!..Lick the pole!" I call it my little creative menage a trois. They were doing the dancing but I was in the scene with them, breaking out suggestive moves.
