Rich, beautiful Allie falls in love with Noah ~ a kid from the wrong side of the tracks. (Ryan Gosling). Their relationship is tempestuous and passionate, but ultimately circumstance drives them apart. Fast forward several years later and Allie is engaged to another man. When she sees Noah in the newspaper, she knows she has to see him again and drives back to where they first met. The years haven't dimmed their attraction and they fall hopelessly in love all over again.Allie and Noah are eventually married and have several children. Unfortunately, as Allie grows older she suffers from degenarative memory loss, and has no idea who her family is. Undeterred, Noah is determined to try and remind her, so often sits by her bedside and tells her the story of two young lovers ~ their own story. Eventually, Noah falls ill and Allie isn't getting any better. In their last few moments together, Allie remembers who her husband is. They die in each other's arms.
