Andrea Zuckerman is a Jewish student at West Beverly High School and the editor-in-chief of the West Beverly Blaze. Andrea secretly lives with her grandmother on the other side of town and illegally commutes to West Beverly to obtain a better education in the hopes of attending an Ivy League college. She develops a close companionship with fellow journalist Brandon Walsh, a camaraderie that almost blossoms into a romantic relationship if not for the fact that Brandon does not want to ruin their friendship.Andrea gradually becomes friends with the more superficial Kelly, Brenda, and Donna, and she makes a virginity pact with Donna while in high school. She is valedictorian and is accepted to Yale, the school of her choice, but she decides to attend California University with the rest of her friends on a full scholarship. After losing her virginity to her older dorm-mate Dan Ruben, Andrea meets Mexican law student/bartender Jesse Vasquez at the Walshes' 20th anniversary party, and after a one-night stand, she becomes pregnant. With Kelly's support, Andrea decides to keep the baby, and she first marries Jesse, which is complicated by their different backgrounds. After a difficult pregnancy, Andrea names her daughter Hannah Zuckerman-Vasquez. She has an affair with Dr. Peter Tucker while interning at a hospital but ultimately stays with Jesse even after learning of his own infidelity. At the end of her sophomore year of college, Jesse receives a fellowship at Yale Law School, Andrea is accepted to their undergraduate premed program, and they move to Connecticut with one-year-old Hannah in tow. Three years later, Andrea visits her Beverly Hills friends with the news that she and Jesse are separated and that she has dropped out of school, but two years after that, she seems to have gotten her life back on track.In the new 90210 spinoff, Andrea's daughter Hannah is the anchor of the West Beverly High news program, suggesting that Andrea has fulfilled her career dreams and is once again living in Beverly Hills.
