In the movie, Animal House, the character played by Cab Calloway (Curtis) was named after Curtis Salgado, a Portland, Oregon based blues, R&B, and soul singer-songwriter. He plays harmonica and is the lead vocalist in his own band. John Belushi met and befriended Salgado while fiminlg the movie, Animal House, in Eugene, Oregon in 1980. Salgado was the inspiration behind Belushi's creation of The Blues Brother. Their first album, Briefcase Full of the Blues is dedicated to Curtis Salgado.
