Dane is the older of the two Thompson boys and has become increasingly adolescent and irritable with this recent move to Bensonville. He'd much rather be in New York with his friends than stuck in a small town with his little brother, Lucas. As a 17 year-old, Dane thinks he's incapable of fear, especially in front of the girl next door, Julie. Left to explore in their new settings, Dane and Lucas discover a mysterious hole in their basement while their mother, Susan, is away at work. Dane soon discovers that fear may be something entirely different than he ever imagined.
