In the original comicbook continuity, Dr Curt Connors became The Lizard whilst attempting to regenerate his missing arm. In the trilogy of films directed by Sam Raimi, he was a recurring character but did not transform, although it is rumoured Raimi wanted to introduce The Lizard in Spider-Man 4 but faced studio resistance. The Lizard appears in The Amazing Spider-Man, the reboot.
