Jo Wilson is a new intern introduced in the ninth season who has made it through college and medical school despite having a very troubled childhood. At first, Alex assumes she's the type who had an easy ride because she's beautiful and went to Princeton before attending Harvard Medical School. He calls her princess as a result of this assumption, which is proven wrong when she reveals to him that she lived in a car for years, starting at the age of 16 when she left her last foster home. Her mother had left her at a fire station when she was two weeks old. Soon enough, Alex discovers they have much in common.
