A renowned heart surgeon, Preston Burke is the head of cardiothoracic surgery at Seattle Grace at the beginning of the series. He has an intense, overbearing personality that works in the operating room, but doesn't do much for his relationship with protege-turned-love-interest Cristina Yang. He is a neat freak whose apartment is spotless, which clashes with Cristina's less structured style of living. Order is what Preston Burke is all about, but things get complicated for him and send his life and career into turmoil. He initially is friendly with Derek Shepherd, but doesn't consider him a friend until they go through some stuff together.
