Dr. Robert Burke was a palentologist hired by Peter Ludlow to be a dinosaur expert on the team's trip to Isla Sorna. But he tends to be wrong about his knowledge of dinosuars including identifying a compy wrong saying that it's not dangerous. When the group is attacked by the T-Rex Burke runs into the waterfall with Sarah Harding, Kelly Malcom, and Nick Van Owen to which the T-Rex can't reach them but then Burke spots a snake crawling in his shirt and as he tries to get away from it he slips and falls into the jaws of the T-Rex and is eaten.The character is inspired by real-life paleontoligist Dr. Robert T. Bakker (who also has long hair, a beard and a cowboy hat)
