Sadie Harris is a blast from Meredith's past, a friend from back in Meredith's lost and wandering phase with whom Meredith traveled through Europe after college while putting off medical school. Sadie and Meredith had a mutual hatred of Ellis Grey, Meredith's mother, and was surprised to learn that Meredith had softened her hard stance on Ellis when Sadie arrived in Seattle as a surgical intern. Sadie's presence caused some tension for Cristina, who was jealous of the close relationship Sadie and Meredith once had. Sadie's uber-rebellious attitude came to the fore during a particularly controversial incident that nearly cost her and several other interns their jobs.
