Edith Baines, was the loyal, scatterbrained, and nonjudgmental wife of Archie Bunker. She came from a respectable middle-class family that objected to her marriage to Archie, but the marriage was approved of, nevertheless.Edith's date of birth was convoluted. She celebrated her 30th high school graduation anniversary from Millard Fillmore High School in 1973, but celebrated her 50th birthday in 1977.Edith died in her sleep from a stroke in September of 1980 at either 52 or 54 years of age.
