Frank DotZler is a Special Investigator for the LAPD's Homicide Division. He holds the rank of Sergeant (meaning that he's already held the ranks of Detective 3rd, 2nd, & 1st Grades). He uses his Profiling expertise, which allows him to see things that other cops might miss, as he looks for clues in the behavior, as well as physical forensic evidence.
