At the start of Season 2, Ian is introduced as the temporary replacement for Ezra Stone (who was shot in Season 1 finale). Kane speaks to him contemptuously however he vied for and got Tom Kane's approval to be hired permanently.When he was young, Ian's mother, Barbara, tried to get money from Kane after he was recently elected since she claimed Ian was his son.
